Nadzeya Krapivina has told “BelSAT” about the meeting with her husband Ales Kirkevich and read out an extract from his letter.
The wife and the mother of the “Young Front” Vice-Chairman visited him in Novapolatsk colony. Nadzeya Krapivina has told that they spoke through a telephone receiver and there was glass between them. There were no other meetings in the room at that moment. According to Nadzeya, Ales does not tell the details of his life in the colony as he does not want to make his close people sad.
He makes construction palettes from 7:00 till 16:30. He complains that he does not have enough time to answer all the letters that arrive – other prisoners are surprised that he gets so many letters. “It is very difficult to keep one’s heart open here, so it is easy for the heart to harden at a quickened pace…” – Nadzeya Krapivina has read out the lines from her husband’s letter to “BelSAT”. Letters to relatives reach their addressees, but late.
“The biggest shock was in the very beginning. It was also very complicated when he was in the KGB prison. As both confinement conditions, and absence of information lasted for three months, – says the political prisoner’s mother Larysa Kirkevich. – After the trial everything became clear, we know that it is unfair, that he is there for nothing, but nevertheless. The pain is still there but it’s not that sharp. Now we have hope that he will be released, sooner or later.”
Activist of the movement “For Freedom” Mikita Likhavid and ex-presidential candidate Andrej Sannikau are also serving punishment in the same colony in Novapolatsk.
