Dear Sir/Madam,I would like to thank you for Your position with regard to the Belarusian regime on behalf of the “Young Front”. To my deepest regret, we should state that there is an inaccuracy in the European Parliament’s resolution on Belarus dated March 29, 2012.In claim 3 of the Resolution there is a list of people whose release the European Union will strive to achieve as the first priority. 1. Mikalai Autukhovich – detained on 8 February 2009, on 6 May 2010 was sentenced to 5 years and 2 months in high-security prison by the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus under part 3 of Article 295 of the Republic of Belarus (unlawful actions with firearms, ammunition and explosives). On 17 January 2012 was tried for alleged violations of the prison regime. The regime of the punishment was toughened, as a result of which Mr. Autukhovich was transferred from penal colony #5 in Ivatsevichy to cell-type prison #1 in Hrodna. Далей
Some people in Belarus still cling to Lukashenka’s regime ideology as they cannot imagine anything else. Others have a different view of the country’s future but prefer to remain silent and suffer in solitude. There are also those who declared an outright “holy war” against the regime, no matter what the cost, and are ready to sacrifice their lives on the altar of freedom.
Zmicier Dashkevich (30) is of this latter stock, a political prisoner, a protestant and the leader of the officially banned Young Front, a Belarusian opposition youth Далей
The information that he was transferred to Hrodna prison has not been confirmed
In connection with that, the directive board of the Young Front appealed to the citizens of Belarus asking them to write letters to the Department on Serving Punishments, in order to find out Yauhen’s whereabouts, to stop pressure on him and to demand to provide his lawyer access to him immediately. Далей
We would like to address to all of the progressive world community with a call for help! With shout about the fast and real help on rescue of life of the Belarussian prisoner of conscience Dmitry Dashkevich!
Worldly unrecognized, the president of Belarus and spiritually a moral freak Lukashenko continues to kill, physically and morally damage the people of Belarus. Everything what is happening at present suggests that we should all be afraid of the fact that in the nearest future (the count goes for days!) Lukashenko will kill the leader of Young Front Dmitry Dashkevich. Далей
Letter from Dzmiter Dashkevich to his godmother Nataliya Yasevich (english translation):
My dear mother,
Here I am in my new place of detention. I do not know what is going to happen to me here but it is not promising anything good. Now my only hope is God and that He will somehow free me from this place. Only if you could imagine how much I dream about being free from here….about how we would meet with each other and sit together in the garden by the barbecue… you have probably collected the harvest of this year by now. “The most important thing is to survive midseason colds. And to steer one’s blood by doing push-ups”
Political prisoner Zmitser Dashkevich was sent to a disciplinary cell 8 times. They do not let him sleep at night, prohibit to read the Bible. The “Young Front” leader is suffering from cold and is getting prepared for winter already in summer.
Zmitser Dashkevich’s lawyer managed to see his client on August 24. We would like to turn your attention to the fact that, before this, the lawyers had been denied in their requests to see Zmitser Dashkevich 5 times in a row. Далей
Political prisoner Zmitser Dashkevich has numerous complaints about the attitude to him which does not meet any regulations and can be estimated as using tortures. The “Young Front” organizes a special conference in connection with the above.
It is possible to find an Article against everyone. Especially, when we speak about freedom. 2 years – this is serious, but the others got longer terms. There were no proofs at the trial, just guesses. Tortures are used in prison.
We need a word of solidarity from everyone who wishes freedom for my colleague from Belarus.
The “Young Front” activists, detained on August 2 near the correctional colony No. 9 in Horki, were sentenced to administrative detention for the terms from 10 till 17 days. Most of them were charged under two articles of the Administrative Code – participation in a non-sanctioned event and disobedience to the police.
