On October 18, 2011 the official Young Front visit (Belarus) ended in the Kingdom of Norway.
The official reason for inviting Young Front to Norway was regular Congress of YF partners — Christian Democratic Youth (youth of the Christian Democratic Party of Norway).
Thanks to the Norwegian side, a 5-day visit to Norway turned out to be not only representative but also informative.
Young Front delegation had several meetings with representatives of the Foreign Ministry, with the heads of the Norwegian Helsinki Committee and journalists.
Young Front also held talks with Knut Aryldam Hareyde, leader of Norwegian Christian Democrats (KrF), during which youngfrontees spoke about the situation in Belarus and the problems of political prisoners, including the Young Front leader Dmitry Dashkevich.
Leader of Norwegian Christian Democrats (KrF) expressed his support and gratitude to Young Front and asked to tell all Belarusians who are struggling for democracy and human rights that he believes in democratic victory in Belarus in the near future. “Belarus should have a better life, we agree with you” — said Mr. Knut Arild Hareide.
Valery Matskevich, International Secretary of Young Front, presented his report on the political and socio-economic situation in Belarus at the Congress of Youth Christian Democrats.
In the report Valery Matskevich drew particular attention to the issue of political prisoners in the country, and therefore urged his Norwegian colleagues to be more principled to official Minsk.
